‘FAIR FOR THE FUTURE’

Transition Penwith and the Plan-it Earth Education Project present ‘Fair for the Future’ on Saturday 9 May 2009, at Plan-it Earth, Chyena, Sancreed, west of Penzance.

The aim of the event is to provide a showcase for all the positive, sustainable activities, organisations and produce in Penwith. There will be lots to see and do including:

  • blacksmith;
  • cob oven demonstrations;
  • wild food foraging;
  • Hedgerow herbalism,
  • local food,
  • music and dance,
  • sustainability and environmental information
  • and a Well Dressing!

We aim to promote zero waste at the event – for example, there will be no ‘disposable’ plastic cups and visitors are encouraged to bring their own re-usable cups where possible - there will be some available for those that forget.

It is hoped to arrange shared transport to the event to encourage visitors to leave their cars at home and help promote more sustainable means of travel.

There is plenty to do before, during and after – so please get in touch, if you can get involved! Want a stall promoting your local, sustainable produce or service for the day? We ask for a reasonable donation – please contact us.

The day will finish with a disco celebration - Bruce’s Bring Your Own – so dust off your old LP’s and get ready to dance the night away.

Chairman of Transition Penwith, Stuart Walker, said:

“This is a date for your diary – bring your family and friends to this local and exciting event as there will be loads to do. We plan to make this the sustainability event of the year for Penwith that everyone will enjoy.   We hope that as many people as possible will join us”.
