Cheaper combined bus and train tickets for Cornwall

At a time of increasing motoring costs, using public transport is a sound economical and environmental choice and to make it a more attractive option, public transport operators in Cornwall have reduced the price of their Ride Cornwall Rover tickets.

Through a partnership between Cross Country trains, First Great Western, First Bus, Western Greyhound and Truronian, these combined tickets provide unlimited off peak train travel and can also be used on nominated Cornish bus services – so combined bus and train journeys can now be made, making it easier to reach many destinations throughout Cornwall.

Available after 0900 Monday to Friday, and at any time on weekends and Bank Holidays, the Rover tickets offer customers a great way to travel in Cornwall.

Anne Marie Delrosa, Senior Marketing Product Manager, First Great Western, says: “By reducing the price of these tickets, we are making them more accessible to more local people. “It is a great way for a family to have a day out, visit relatives or go shopping avoiding using the car.”

There is a wide choice of bus and trains services to mix and match from.   We have managed to knock £2 off the previous fare for adults, so a single ticket is now £10, while children can travel for £7.50.  A family of two adults and up to three children can also travel throughout Cornwall off peak for a total of £24.”

The offer, which is already running, applies to all First Great Western off peak services in Cornwall and also to Cross Country train services. Participating bus companies include FirstBus, Western Greyhound and Truronian.
