Since 1872 the Co-operative Bank has been providing responsible banking, insurance and investment advice to customers and members. Being owned by a co-operative, they're accountable to members and customers, not shareholders. They believe that this is more relevant than ever today. The Co-operative Bank branch network is much smaller than other banks but their merger with Britannia Building Society means that they now have an additional 245 branches across the country at which basic banking services can be carried out face-to-face. For all other servicing requirements it's possible to use their UK-based call centres and website. The nearest current full branch is in Plymouth but there is a Britannia/ Co-op Bank branch in Truro.
Coast are an independent body and a social enterprise, not core funded, based in a refurbished barn in Cornwall. All their income comes from contract work for private companies, local authorities and other organisations that they work with. They encourage, inform, network, research, lobby, measure, persuade, object, question, bend ears, break boundaries and never knowingly give up!
Pioneerium logHayle Pioneerium Project is about creating an enterprise culture. The Pioneerium will be owned and operated by the community and will be a self-sustainable attraction, which benefits locals, businesses and visitors. As well as creating jobs it will help address the problem that Hayle has – many visitors to West Cornwall stay there but go elsewhere during the day. After enjoying a trip to the Pioneerium, the visitor will stay in the town, enjoying the other attractions on offer, hopefully leading to a knock-on effect for local businesses.
