Love Local Food

Time:
26 October 2011 - 7:00pm - 9:30pm
Location:
Union Hotel, Chapel Street, Penzance

Transition Helston and Transition Penwith Food Groups are running a consultation and launch event for local food in West Cornwall

If you are a local food producer or business – farmers, growers, processors and other food businesses such as retailers, cafés and restaurants - then come along and register your business on the new online directory:

http://www.westcornwallfood.org.uk

It's come from a lot of work put in by Transition Helston but will henceforth cover the whole of West Cornwall.

The Transition Penwith Food Group is part of a new project focused on Local Food Systems that is part of:

http://www.makinglocalfoodwork.co.uk

Their goal is to explore how local food systems can be encouraged to evolve in a sustainable and relevant manner, reflecting the needs of the communities they serve. One aim of the project is to share the learning with a wider audience, and thus inspire and help other like-minded groups. On this evening the Food Group will be presenting research and ideas to support more ‘local food for local markets’ and would value your input. They want you to have your say and help them develop an effective marketing strategy to promote this directory to residents and visitors of West Cornwall.

Tea/coffee and light refreshments provided. Although primarily aimed at those involved in the food industry all members of the community with an interest in supporting a vibrant local food economy in West Cornwall are very welcome.

To book a place at this event please contact Lisa Guy at higherkeigwin@phonecoop.coop or 01736 788762. For other event enquiries call Traci Lewis on 07870 268654.
