The South West Observatory Network works to enable a shared understanding of the South West Region and its parts, and promotes the use of sound evidence in policy making in the region. The South West Observatory's core unit is the Network's hub. It draws together the regional expertise of the network's six modules, which cover public health, the environment, skills and learning, the economy, culture and planning; and the local geographical knowledge of the seven sub-regional Local Intelligence Networks. SWO's aim is to ensure that policy-making in the region is based on good intelligence; that is information which is up to date, relevant and well understood.
The Information Management Officer role will support the Core Unit's information management and dissemination by ensuring that information is made easily accessible as soon as it is available, within the SWO network and externally, using appropriate technology and through a variety of media. A main responsibility of the post-holder will be to update and maintain the Observatory's website www.swo.org.uk. The role involves a high degree of computer literacy as SWO are implementing a new web Content Management System. Experience with website maintenance is highly desirable in addition to the usual Microsoft Office and Adobe packages.
The post-holder will work as part of a small team promoting the work of the Observatory network to its wider audience. Knowledge of demographic information for the region would be an advantage, good communication skills and a sense of humour are essential.
Terms
This is a six month temporary position until 31 March 2009, with possibility of extension.
Full-time, 37 hours per week with flexible working, based at the Core Unit in Taunton.
Salary range £19,000 - £24,000 per annum pro rata.
Annual Leave Entitlement of 30 days (plus Public Holidays) and employer contribution to a stakeholder pension.
