Great One Hour Share - GOhSH

Great One-hour Share posterGreat One-hour Share posterThe Great One Hour Share is now up and running. It's a pilot project initiated and coordinated by Transition Penwith with a range of partners. It focuses on facilitating people getting together at the most immediate level of sustainable, resilient communities - their own street!

See how you could get involved!

Participants are asked to volunteer a minimum of an hour a week to the project, sharing and supporting each other in achieving simple solutions to the consequences of Climate Change, Peak Oil and Economic Uncertainty. We all “kind of” know what to do and may be doing some of it, and now we can make it more of a reality in a holistic way. For the first time partner organisations are joining together with us to enable this to occur.

Penwith is still one of the most economically deprived and disadvantaged areas in Cornwall, the latter has now moved from the bottom of the table to the second poorest in the UK, and we know fuel poverty is on the increase. Therefore, apart from the actual environmental and social benefits, the money saved will be very important to many people.

This pilot project is a small step, which anyone and everyone participating in it can take, making a difference to the challenges we’re facing. That’s why when it ends and we’ve evaluated the outcome, (which we hope will be successful), we plan to find a way of making it happen throughout Penwith.
